This is by far the most important issue as I have been meeting with you and hearing your concerns. I will be posting a ton about roads because there is a lot to cover. Most of you know the growth we are experiencing today are homes that were approved over a decade ago, and Utah in general has been experiencing explosive growth largely because of the strong economy here. But what should the city and state be doing to make sure our roads and infrastructure keeps pace with the growth. There are some roads that are state roads and really out of the hands of local officials and there are some local roads that are out of the hands of state officials, and there are some regional roads that require collaboration with other cities, the county, and the state. This collaboration that is required means we need people in office that have built relationships with other leaders and continue to collaborate to get the things Eagle Mountain needs.
One big topic of discussion has been getting a connection from City Center out to Saratoga Springs. Different candidates have postulated ideas for this connection, but the fact is the current council members have been pushing for this connection for years. Early plans can be found on Mountainland Association of Governments TransPlan 50 (2019) found here: https://magutah.gov/rtp2019/ and the updated version here: https://magutah.gov/rtp/
One thing to note is other agencies almost always under estimate our population by 5-20k. Because we have been growing so quickly, updates need to be made.
I am including images for the proposal we have been working on with Saratoga Springs over the last 6 months. Much is left to be done, but this will be discussed in our regional joint council meeting on July 29th. The fact is, this road will happen and you can see within the proposal that speed and connection to Mountain View Corridor have been a huge priority.
